Cancellations

Cancellations are sometimes unavoidable and can be very annoying if left to the last minute for all concerned.

Cancellations are sometimes unavoidable and can be very annoying if left to the last minute for all concerned. At Altrix we try to make sure that you are fully informed about the shifts that you have booked with us.  That means that when a trust tells us that they no longer need a shift filled, if you are booked into the shift, we will let you know as soon as possible that the shift is no longer needed.  Any shift cancellation will always be notified to you with an in-app notification and an email, and if the shift is due to be worked within 72 hours we call you as well, just to make sure you know about the cancellation.  Where there is an alternate shift available at the same time, if it is in a ward you have worked in before, we will reserve this for you, to accept or decline on the app.  If there are no obvious replacement shift available, we will attempt to contact you to discuss any other shifts available to understand if they are suitable.  We think it’s only fair to let you know as quickly as possible that a shift is cancelled, and hope this will help you manage your working time in the best way for you.

Where you need to cancel a shift that you have booked, we ask that you call us as soon as possible to let us know.  We understand that some shift cancellations are unavoidable but would ask that unless you have no choice, that shifts are not cancelled within 24 hours of the shift start time.  As you are aware short notice cancellations significantly increase the likelihood of the shift being unfilled, increasing pressure in the wards and units, on your colleagues and importantly on patient safety.
