The team at Altrix are aware the likelihood that shifts you book will be cancelled by an NHS Trust has increased significantly over the last 12 months, with our data showing a circa 69% year on year increase in the number of bookings that Trusts cancel as the shift or the agency booking into that shift is no longer needed.
We are very aware that this causes you a significant amount of inconvenience and disruption and we are working with our partner NHS Trusts, providing them with our data and insight relating to Trust initiated cancellations. This information shows which shifts that are made available to the agency workforce to fill are more likely to be cancelled and we encourage Trusts to reduce the volumes of these that they make available to us.
This may seem counter-intuitive, reducing the amount of shifts that Altrix have access to, but we would prefer that the shifts you see on the App are as reliable as possible and we do not waste your time or reduce your opportunity to work by showing shifts that are likely to be cancelled.
We continue to inform you of cancellations as soon as possible after we become aware of them, to ensure that you can plan an alternative appropriately. Please be reassured you will always receive an in-app notification and an email regarding a cancellation and if the shift was due to be worked within 72 hours, we will attempt to call you as well. We will always attempt to find a suitable replacement shift for you prior to cancelling.
Again, we apologise for the current volume and frequency of cancellations and are working hard with our NHS Partners to both reduce them and minimise the impact that they have on you and your work life.
