Auto-book Do’s and Don’ts: A helpful guide to availability management

We hope you are all now taking advantage of our new Auto-book function within the app.

Below are some simple Do’s and Don’ts to help you get the best out of Auto-book, using it effectively to secure the shifts you want (and know you can work) as soon as the shift becomes available.

Do’s

  • As soon as you are certain of your availability for a given date or dates, do add it directly on the app.
  • If your availability changes, do edit or cancel any availability that you have already provided.
  • When adding availability, do ensure the preferences that you select reflect the type of shift that you are able and willing to work.

    For Example:
    – Be specific with trusts, hospitals and wards that you choose. Do you actualy want to work on that ward – if the answer is no, then don’t select it
    – If you’re only looking for a Night shift then only select Night, don’t select Early, Late, etc.

  • When you are certain of your availability for a given date and you have carefully selected your preferences, always choose Auto-Book Me to ensure that you have the best chance of securing the preferred shift.
  • Do take advantage of the Copy function – when you know that your preferences haven’t changed, you can tap copy to apply the same preferences to a new date(s).

Don’ts

  • Don’t delay, or you risk missing out on the preferred shift.
  • Don’t delay updating your availability, or you risk being Auto-Booked / Notified for shifts that you’re no longer able to work.
  • Don’t include choices that could result in you being Auto-Booked into shifts that you later wish to cancel.

Our standard cancellation policy applies to shifts that are Auto-Booked. Min 12 hrs notification via your advisor

  • When your availability is less certain, or you want to have the final say before booking a shift, don’t choose Auto-Book.

Instead choose the Notify Me option, but bear in mind that there is a lower chance that you’ll secure the shift you’re looking for.

  • Don’t waste time selecting your preferences from scratch if they haven’t changed.
