At Altrix we provide a uniform for all our members to wear whilst working, where your role requires it. This is to ensure that you are in comfortable, professional clothing and that other healthcare staff can identify you and your role for the department or ward you are working in. As many of our members are providing direct care to patients this also helps patients to know your role in their individual care. Our uniforms ensure that all our members are in the correct uniform for the duties they are required to perform and these meet all health and safety requirements for patients, families and you.
Alongside wearing the uniform there are requirements to meet that ensure patient safety and comply with national and local infection prevention and control policies and procedures. All healthcare staff are expected to have long hair tied back and to have short, clean, unvarnished and unadorned nails. Comfortable shoes with closed toes will protect your feet. We are also advised to avoid too many badges on a uniform and that any items such as pens are placed in outside breast pockets and removed if needed when providing direct patient care. Jewellery should be kept to an absolute minimum, a plain band ring, wedding or other and stud earrings are acceptable.
If you are unsure of any specific items the local policy for the department or ward will help to guide you.
